Chad Klotzbach
Chad Klotzbach grew up working summers for his family business, Alleghany Services, where he focused on farm drainage and construction. Chad attended Clarkson University and completed his Civil Engineering degree, then joined the family business to run the drainage crew. He implemented an RTK GPS system and new design software, reducing layout and design time from two weeks to two hours. Seeing little change in New York’s drainage industry for more than 50 years, Chad started to explore other regions to better understand the “why” of farm drainage. As one of the first local contractors to install and educate customers on grid tile, Alleghany Services quickly expanded across Western New York and eventually throughout the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic states.
Chad holds an MBA from Canisius University and actively promotes and educates the community on best practices and agricultural water quality. He’s involved with the Conservation Drainage Network, Agricultural Drainage Management Coalition, Ohio State University Overholt Drainage School, Soil and Water Conservation Society, and a number of other organizations and speaking events.
